HULL PLAN

The schooner "Evangelyn" is one of a number that is planned
to be built by the Newport Schooner Project (NSP). The NSP
has designed the building of the 60ft schooner "Evangelyn"
as a stepped educational project. Each step in the process
of building the schooner will be broken down into manageable
class room projects that will teach those crafts and techniques
that are used to build a traditional wooden yacht.

The yacht would be built for use as private yacht or a
local charter business. This is to be a yacht of traditional
heavy plank-on-frame construction with the intention of
utilizing the type of yacht and technology prevalant during
the period of 1910-1920. This time period is considered the
golden age of the schooner. The design very closely resembles
the work of B.B. Crowninshield about the time that John Alden
was employed in his design office. "Evangelyn" was designed to
be a multi purpose vessel and meet the rules of construction
and safety as set forth in CFR 46 sub-chapter T for small
passenger vessels under 65 ft and 45 passengers or less.
